1. Who processes your data
The data controller is Adam Wolski, running a sole proprietorship under the business name Adam Wolski SEEDTech Academy, ul. Warszawska 40 lok. 2A, 40-008 Katowice, Poland, NIP (tax ID) 6462704744, REGON 529094224 ("we"). For any data matter write to contact@praeteritusgame.com. We have not appointed a data protection officer because we are not required to.
2. In short
- The site praeteritusgame.com uses no cookies or similar technologies, no analytics and no ads.
- Fonts, scripts and images are served from our own server, so opening the site connects you to no other service except the company that hosts it.
- Apart from the technical data the server logs on every visit (section 3), we collect your data only when you sign up for news (your e-mail address) or write to us. The sign-up form is part of this site; your address goes to our newsletter provider (section 6) only when you click "Sign me up".
- The YouTube film loads only after you click the play button.
- The "Support the game’s development" and "Buy me a coffee" links lead to the external services Patreon (patreon.com) and Buy Me a Coffee (buymeacoffee.com): nothing is sent there until you click them, and after that the privacy policy of the service you visit applies.
3. What data, why, on what basis and for how long
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sending news by e-mail (newsletter) | e-mail address, sign-up and confirmation date, subscription status | your consent: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and consent to receive commercial information by e-mail under Art. 398 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law of 12 July 2024 | until you withdraw consent (unsubscribe); unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days |

| Delivering the site and keeping it secure | IP address, date and time, requested page, browser headers in server logs | our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): operating and protecting the site | as long as the hosting provider keeps them; Cloudflare processes IP addresses from logs for a limited time and keeps a pseudonymised traffic sample for up to 12 months |
| Answering messages and complaints | e-mail address, name (if given), message content | our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): contacting you and handling complaints | until the matter is closed, then for the limitation period, no longer than 3 years |
| Playing the YouTube film | IP address and browser information sent to Google when you click | your consent given by clicking the play button (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) | we store nothing; Google decides about the data it collects (section 5) |
4. Cookies and browser storage
The site does not store anything on your device and does not read information from it: it uses no cookies, no local browser storage and no similar technologies covered by Art. 399 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law. That is why there is no cookie banner. One exception: if our hosting provider's protection system considers traffic suspicious (for example during an attack), it may show a verification page and set a technical cookie strictly necessary to protect the site. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first and ask for consent where the law requires it. The sign-up form is part of this site: it loads no scripts, fonts or verification from other services (such as reCAPTCHA) and stores nothing in your browser.
5. The YouTube film
We load the player from youtube-nocookie.com only when you click the play button. From then on your browser connects to the servers of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google receives, among other things, your IP address and device information, may store information on your device and processes this data as a separate controller under its own policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. The "youtube-nocookie" mode limits how YouTube uses the data but does not rule out storage on your device. If you do not want to connect to Google, do not click the button; you can also watch the film directly on YouTube.
6. Who processes data on our behalf
Only these providers process data on our behalf, under data processing agreements:
- website hosting: Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (data processing agreement: Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum, version 6.4); the sign-up form also runs on Cloudflare's servers, passing the address you enter to EmailOctopus without storing it;
- newsletter delivery: Three Hearts Digital Ltd, trading as EmailOctopus, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom; it receives the addresses from the form on this site, stores the address list on servers in the European Union, sends the confirmation e-mail and the news, and records proof of consent. EmailOctopus uses its own sub-processors, listed at https://emailoctopus.com/legal/subprocessors, including Amazon Web Services (data storage in the European Union), Bird (main sending, European Union), Twilio SendGrid (a share of sending, USA) and Automattic (Gravatar, which receives a hash of the e-mail address, USA);
- e-mail: Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland (Microsoft 365), where we keep the mailbox contact@praeteritusgame.com.
We may also disclose data to public authorities when the law requires it. We do not sell data or share it with other companies for marketing.
7. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Cloudflare is a US company and its network may serve your visit from a server outside the European Economic Area. Transfers to the US rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, in which Cloudflare participates, and as a fallback on the standard contractual clauses adopted by the Commission (Art. 45 and 46 GDPR). EmailOctopus stores data in the European Union; access from the United Kingdom relies on the Commission's adequacy decision for that country (Art. 45 GDPR). Microsoft keeps the mailbox of EU businesses in the European Union, and any access from the US relies on the same adequacy decision (EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework), in which Microsoft participates. Some of EmailOctopus's sub-processors (section 6), such as Twilio SendGrid for a share of sending and Automattic (Gravatar), operate in the US; EmailOctopus bases these transfers on UK safeguards (the UK-US Data Bridge and standard contractual clauses). When you play the film, data also goes to Google (section 5). For information about these safeguards and a copy of them, write to contact@praeteritusgame.com.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy (Art. 15 GDPR),
- have it corrected (Art. 16),
- have it erased (Art. 17),
- restrict processing (Art. 18),
- receive the data we process on the basis of consent in a portable form (Art. 20),
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest (Art. 21),
- withdraw consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any e-mail or by writing to contact@praeteritusgame.com; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it (Art. 7(3)),
- lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes UODO), ul. Stanisława Moniuszki 1A, 00-014 Warszawa, Poland, https://uodo.gov.pl, or with the supervisory authority where you live.
We answer requests without undue delay and within one month at the latest.
9. Do you have to give us data
Giving your e-mail address is voluntary, but without it we cannot send you news. Browsing the site requires no data.
10. Profiling and tracking
We do not make automated decisions about you and do not profile you. Open and click tracking is switched off in our newsletter e-mails (EmailOctopus lets us do this for each campaign).
11. Age
The newsletter is meant for people aged 16 or over. Younger people may sign up only with a parent's or guardian's consent.
12. Security
The site works only over encrypted HTTPS. Only people who need the address list to send the news can access it, and our provider accounts are protected with two-factor authentication.
13. Changes
The current version, with its effective date, is always on this page. We will tell subscribers by e-mail about material changes that affect the newsletter.
